Garden Club (Article written by a Garden Club member)
The Mountain View Garden Club was founded in April of 1954 and joined the Fed-
erated Garden Clubs of Missouri and the National Garden Club, Inc. in 1958.
Club members are composed of townspeople and gardeners from the surrounding
communities. Our primary objectives are fun, friendships and learning. We meet on
the afternoon of the fourth Wednesday of the month at the MV Public Library for a
program and business meeting. Visitors are always welcome.
Our interests include not only gardening for our own benefit, but conservation and
environmental study, youth education and activities, garden therapy, sponsoring a
garden tour and maintaining bluebird trails. We take an out of town tour each year
and also do local field trips.
Our reoccurring club theme has been “Years of Community Service.” Part of our
group, known as the Wednesday Weeders, meets a couple of times a month to plant
and maintain the numerous flower
beds we have around town.
The Mountain View Garden Club has
enjoyed serving our community in the past
and hopes to continue with many more
years of fun, friendship. and learning.
