                     1. Explain how Donald did not respect himself. Provide details to support your answer.
                     Possible Answers: Donald did not respect himself when he did not advocate for himself. More
                     specifically, Donald did not tell an adult at home or school that David hit him. Donald also did

                     not tell an adult at home or school that David called him “fat” and said he “stinks.” Donald did
                     not adhere to the Anti-Bullying Policy (refer to Lesson 9).


                     2. Explain how David did not respect Donald. Provide details to support your answer.
                     Possible Answers: David did not respect Donald by hitting him. David also disrespected

                     Donald by calling him “fat” and telling the students that Donald “stinks.” David did not adhere
                     to the Anti-Bullying Policy (refer to Lesson 9).



                     3. If you were in “Donald’s shoes,” how would you deal with David’s bullying? Explain. Answers
                     will vary.

                     • Why did Ms. Jones tell Princess that she should have been patient and polite?

                     Possible Answers: Ms. Jones told Princess that she should have been polite because she
                     interrupted Donald while he was attempting to ask a question. It is impolite or rude to talk
                     while someone else is talking. Ms. Jones wants Donald to know that his ideas are valued. Ms.

                     Jones also wants Donald to learn how to speak up for himself when he is being mistreated by
                     his peers.


                     • What could Donald have said to speak up for himself in this instance?
                     Possible Answers: Donald could have spoken up for himself by saying, “Princess, it was rude

                     to interrupt me while I was talking,” or “Princess, I did not like that you interrupted me while I
                     was talking.” Donald also could have said, “Princess, you should have patiently waited until I
                     asked my question,” or  “Princess, what you have to say is just as important as what I have to

                     say.”
