Teacher Instructions
Explicit Instruction, Guided Instruction, Independent Practice, and Exit Ticket
SEL Standard 2D.2b- Apply constructive approaches in resolving conflicts.
Explicit Instruction (I Do)
Teacher: Use the story “Mike’s Conflict” to complete the graphic novel template. Add
information about how using constructive problem solving approaches can change a negative
consequence into a positive result.
Guided Instruction (We Do)
Teacher: Choose a student or character from a story who has a conflict and use the
information to complete the graphic novel template which shows how using constructive
problem-solving approaches can change a negative consequence into a positive result.
Independent Practice (You Do)
Teacher: Assign the students to cooperative groups. Instruct students to illustrate one
person’s personal conflict in the group. Ask the students to illustrate the cause, eect,
constructive approach, and consequence of the person’s actions in the graphic novel
template.
Exit Ticket (Assessment)
Teacher: Assign the students to illustrate a personal conflict they have experienced. Instruct
the students to illustrate the cause, eect, constructive approach, and new consequence of
the person’s actions in the graphic novel template.
