As Scylar Snowden heads to college in the fall, she’ll pack six years of experience gained through the Clarence E. Lightner Y Achievers program along with her.

NC High School Students & Adult Advisors attended the Annual Youth Legislature Conference in Raleigh.
Student participants:
• Gain an understanding of formal and
informal government structures.
• Participate actively in the legislative,
judicial, lobbyist and/or press process.
• Listen to and respect varying viewpoints. • Develop confidence in and dedication to
the democratic process.
Through the Clarence E. Lightner Y Achievers program, adult volunteers help prepare teens for academic and career development opportunities.

• 125 Minority Middle & High School Youth • 100% High School Graduation Rate
• 10 College Scholarships Awarded
• 2,500+ Hours of Community Service
