Connect to reading
– reading to connect
Mrs Cathy d’Apice
Once again the library was a busy place this year. Students and teachers were connecting with books they love to read and books that bring fond memories. Leading up to Bookweek students were busy trying to connect teachers with books they loved in their own childhood. There were 3 winners of this guessing competition, who had fun spending their vouchers at Novelle Bookstore.
Shakespeare also visited and was interviewed by students about his early years in Stratford-upon- Avon during Year 9’s unit of “Who is Shakespeare”. Year 11’s “Hot Seat” had a number of guests from the administration staff who were interviewed during “Leisure in the Library” via Facetime. ‘Leisure in the Library’ also saw students blogging and using a chatroom to connect with each other in a safe environment online.
A Memorial Box from the Australian War Memorial was eagerly awaited. Students were able to connect with WW1 Diggers as they dressed in uniforms, held medals won by soldiers and read information about battles experiences.
Lastly, some of our students have been reviewing for the online magazine Spine Out. Thank you to Alice, Shannon, Richard, Lachlan and Steph W. who have been busy reading. It’s good to see your name in print!
