Future Pathways is designed to prepare our senior students for life beyond school through a comprehensive and tailored program which develops students’ skills, interests and understanding of community opportunities and expectations. Each student undertakes two of four options over the course of a year, including Pathways to Work, Social Skills, Travel Training and Bush Care, an initiative in partnership with Hornsby Shire Council.
In Pathways to work this year students studied and practised skills that they would need in the workforce and in everyday life, with a focus on a different area each term, eg hospitality and housekeeping, food preparation, independent pedestrian safety and IT skills, as well as completing real jobs around the school.

In Bushcare students have learned how to re-establish an area that has been negatively impacted by urban development. Most activities involved removing litter and weeds, planting native species in their place. Their efforts were recognized by Hornsby Council in the grand opening of the new community space including a drumming performance and smoking ceremony from Aboriginal elder, Uncle Wes.
