the team through the back half of the season. Whilst you had many highlights for me as a coach on the field throughout the season – by far, the biggest highlight for me and proudest moment a=was your well-considered and impromptu speech at the end of the Grand Final in front of both teams.. well done mate!
Lastly to Jack. I will cherish every moment over the past six years for which I have been lucky enough to coach your cricket team. I have been lucky enough to have the best seat in the house to see you grow into the young man you are today and to witness first hand some of your proudest moments on the cricket field, from scoring 41 not out this season against a really tough team in 35 degree heat to the way you have significantly improved your wicket keeping this season & bowling over the years. As any Dad who has been lucky enough to coach his son in cricket or any sport, I could not be prouder of you in the way you play as a team player and with respect to the opposition, coaches & umpires & am looking forward to seeing you develop as the years go on.

White
A new season all brings the promise of new starts, new opportunities, new skills and best of all new friendships. Under 13 White began as a combination of cricketers from varying teams and welcomed some new faces to the club and to cricket. It felt like a year of transitions still finding our feet with the hard ball, many players transitioning from primary to high school, transitioning to new teammates and sadly some transitioning to other states during the year. 13’s is a season of growth. At times it felt like some of our opposition had grown into giants and we often took the field against opponents who dwarfed our team in stature, but never in terms of heart, friendship, or sportsmanship.
It is true that we did struggle to put many wins on the scoreboard. But the spirit in which our team played every game and the friendships that developed over the season is something that we are certainly proud of. The friendships will endure. Last year’s results won’t be remembered.
There are always stand out performances during a season. By stand-out we mean a stand-out performance for each player. There is always a match where they achieve something they have not done before, or come up with a key catch, wicket, innings when their team needed them.
Ashton - continued to develop his leg-spin and contributed many solid innings with the bat. Francis – some handy contributions with bat and ball in limited opportunities.
Jivin - new to cricket and improved greatly taking his first wickets and learning to bat with patience to retire several times.
Kirran – always smiling! Don’t let that fool you. He rattled the stumps of many batsmen. Also contributed some big-hitting innings.
Kyson – does he have the safest pair of hands in the club? We think yes. Very safe with the gloves and under spiralling high balls in the field. Always encouraging his team during games and at training. And giving his all every game and training session. Awarded our team player.
Lachlan – Mr consistency with the ball. His line length and economy were very reliable. Took out the bowling award with wickets and economical bowling.
Max – Solid middle order batting but able to elevate the run rate and change the change. Also took wickets at key moments.
Mitchell – alas he moved to Queensland mid-season. His lusty hitting but many bowlers on the back foot. Hit the most 6s and runs for the team. His pace bowling often found the stumps.
