Strait Islander ancestry only (37%), with Italian ancestry only (36%) and compared with all relevant females in the state of South Australia. This could indicate that there are a higher proportion of younger Italian Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander females compared with older females than for any other category. The number of females across all 4 categories was similar for one child. Other notable differences are there are less Italian Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander females with two children (16%), compared with all Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander ancestry (19%) and this is about half that of relevant females with Italian ancestry (30%) and all relevant South Australian females (31%). The number of relevant females with four or more children for Italian Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander females is similar to that of Italian females (both 7%), which is less than half of that of all Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander females (16%) and lower than the South Australian figure (9%).
It Is worth noting that the proportion of not applicable responses, i.e. responses from females under 15 years old and for males was higher for Italian Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people than any other category.
Weekly Income
When comparing the weekly income of individuals in South Australia, it is interesting to note that there were more Italian Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people 15 years and older with a nil income (15%), compared with all relevant Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (9%), all relevant South Australians (7%) and all relevant Italians (6%). It is also interesting that the Italian Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander population group had 0% with negative income which comes from those who own their own business and report negative income due to losses or negative gearing of rentals. This suggests that this either Italian Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people are more successful if they have a business or rental investments or they are less likely to have a business or rental investments.
Interestingly, no Italian Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people had an income of $3,000 per week or more, compared with 2% for all Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander ancestry, 3% for SA total and 4% for all Italian ancestry.
