data for all of Australia as there are 0 people aged 90 years and above that have both Italian and Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander ancestry.
Registered Marriage Status
Looking at the data for people aged 15 years and over, the proportion of Italian Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people living in South Australia that have been married (21%) or never married (67%) is similar to the proportion of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people living in South Australia that have been married (22%) or never married (64%). The data for all Italians on the other hand more closely mirrors that of all South Australians, i.e. 46% married and 35-37% never married.
Looking at the data for people aged 15 years and over, there is an almost 2-fold increase in the proportion of people never married in the Italian Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (67%) and all-Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (65%) groups than in the Italian (37%) and all South Australia (35%) groups. On the other hand, there are half as many people married that have Italian Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander ancestry (21%) and Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander ancestry (22%) than those with Italian ancestry (46%) and all South Australians (46%).
This is likely due to the Italian Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander groups having a higher proportion of younger people.
The proportion of Italian Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people that are widowed (2.6%) or divorced (7.4%) is similar to the proportion of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people with these two categories (3.0% and 6.9%, respectively), which is notably lower than the proportions in the Italian non-Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander population (6.1% and 8.0%, respectively), which shows similar trends to the all SA population (5.7% and 9.5%, respectively).
Number of Children Ever Born
Looking at the number of children ever born (it is worth noting that only females aged 15 years and over were to respond to this question), almost half (49%) of Italian Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander females have had no children. This number is considerably higher for Italian Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander than for females with Australian Aboriginal or Torres
