Colour behind a die cut
Sticking some coloured cardstock behind your die cuts will often transform the design and make them appear less two-dimensional.
The example shown here has been made with the Tattered Lace Globe die, using blue cardstock behind the initial die cut to provide the oceans of the globe’s map.
For many dies, this is as simple as cutting it twice in your different cardstocks and trimming the desired section, but this can be trickier with dies such as the globe, where the meridians on the globe would also cut into the blue cardstock, leaving you with the same design every time. In cases such as this, cutting appropriately sized simple shape dies or even cutting freehand pieces are more likely to achieve the desired result.
