Electives/ Other Classes
• Odyssey of the Mind- (6th - 8th grades and 1st - 5th grades) The Odyssey of the Mind teaches students to learn
creative problem-solving methods while having fun in the process. By tapping into creativity, and through
encouraging imaginative paths to problem-solving, students learn skills that will provide them with the ability to
solve problems -- great and small -- for a lifetime. The Odyssey of the Mind teaches students how to think
divergently by providing open-ended problems that appeal to a wide range of interests. Students learn how to
identify challenges and to think creatively to solve those problems. They are free to express their ideas and
suggestions without fear of criticism. The creative problem- solving process rewards thinking "outside of the
box." Students that decide to take this class will participate in the Odyssey Regional Competition that happens in
February. This class is open to a wide variety of ages. Groups will be formed in class according to age groups. If

• Jr Decorating- (Grades 1st-5th) Jr. Decorating is geared for kids from 1st to 5th grade. We will learn how to frost
cakes, practice simple decorating skills and learn how to make some easy yet creative and delicious desserts.
This is a hands on opportunity to have fun while gaining more experience and ideas in this area. No textbook

• Culinary Arts- (Grades 6th-12th or junior high through high school) This class will combine knowledge with on
hands experience in a wide variety of culinary skills. This year long course will prepare students to be confidently
independent in the kitchen. This course will cover all three meals of the day, as well as, appetizers, desserts and
even BBQ. Knowledge of kitchen tools, proper meat temperatures, food pairings and more will be covered No

• Career Skills & Personal Finance- (middle & high school) In the fall semester students will learn about
paychecks, w-2s, interviewing, resumes, taxes, insurance, buying/financing a car, identity theft and more. In
spring, students will learn about spending plans, savings, credit reports, credit cards, and setting goals. This class
is based on a program through the UA called Take Charge Cats. Students participating in this class will also have
the opportunity to compete in the Arizona Financial Faceoff which is a personal finance- focused competition.

• Preschool Time- In this fun class the littlest students will be introduced to letters, numbers, colors and much
more through play, games, songs, stories, activities and art! We will also work on social interaction and speaking
skills. This class will be tons of fun! Teacher: Casey Clarke Recommended Donation of $10 per weekly class
session.
• Young Entrepreneurs- (middle & high school students) Throughout the class, students develop business ideas,
write business plans, conduct market research, "construct a pitch deck" and that we could add that students will
learn how to utilize a business model canvas, and actually launch and run their own real, legal, fully formed
