All three winemakers had their own wine labels and
were friends before they thought of working together.
They all had day jobs for other wineries, so they were
clearly too busy to open their own tasting rooms. Their
styles, which the three winemakers call minimally
interventionist, were similar enough but the ultimate
take on the final wines were different. Several beers
later the Catalyst Wine Collective was born.
The three winemakers wanted to be part of the rebuild-
ing of the business core of both Talent and Phoenix
that was lost in last year’s fires. They had looked at an
appealing, light-filled space in August but were wor-
ried it might not have survived last year’s fall carnage
that engulfed many towns in Southern Oregon. When
their desired space was available, they jumped at the
