PEAR BLOSSOM FESTIVAL
Starting March 28
hat started 67 years ago as a children’s parade (30 floats and par-

season, has grown to a festival that includes three weeks of events for
all age groups. For many, it’s spring’s premier event.
This year’s festivities start on March 28. Events include a Junior Royalty
Pageant for five-year olds, the crowning of the Pear Blossom Queen, the
Baby Contest, Pear Blossom Golf Tournament, Pear-A-Fare (food and wine),
Smudge Pot Stroll, the two-day Pear Blossom Street Fair (food, crafts, music,
kids section), Pedals N Pears Bike event, and the Pear Blossom Run.
The parade culminates events with over 5,000 participants winding their way John F. Kennedy was the grand marshal of the 1960
along the 2-1/2 mile route—bands, horse groups, floats, Harleys, bicycles, Pear Blossom Festival parade in Medford
walking groups, dance groups, and more, showing off for more than 25,000
spectators. This year’s Grand Marshal is local business icon, Horton Plaza!
