What a Christian Believes
It also means 'to cross over to the other side'. It means that
all the work of Reconciling has been done by God but for
us.
2Corinthians 5 v18,19 ' All this is from God, who
reconciled us to Himself through Christ...' But with this
reconciliation comes an unavoidable responsibility. The
verses continue '...and gave us the ministry of
reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to
Himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them.
And He has committed to us the message of
Reconciliation.'
Every Christian has at sometime in their life been
fundementally changed by God. Once they were far from
God and on the wrong side. God in His love, has turned the
whole situation around.
He has desired to do it for all men and women - John 3 v16,
17,18. 'God so loved the world that He gave His one and
only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish
but have eternal life. For God did not send His son into
the World to condemn the world, but to save the world
through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not
condemned, but whoever does not believe stands
condemned already because he has not believed in
God's one and only Son.'
However it is clear from this passage not all will receive this
gift of being reconciled to God.
Why? Because it requires believing God in what He has
said and done.
This moves the study to the second of the elementary
doctrines of christianity.
