What a Christian Believes
Before Jesus was born as a man on earth, God spoke and
said how He would transform men's sins. Isaiah 1 v18
'Come let us reason together, says the Lord, though your
sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
though as red as crimson, they shall be like wool.' This
is the change that comes when a person receives Christ as
saviour.
This salvation is for everyone, none are excluded except by
their own fault. 2Peter 3 v9 ' He (God) is patient with you,
not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to
repentance.' What repentance is will be dealt with in more
detail later.

Once we have been saved, salvation also covers the period
between coming to Christ and when we die.
Christ's work of salvation goes on, now, in heaven. Romans
5 v10 'For if, when we were enemies, we were
reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how

This life is the one now being lived in Heaven. He lives to
keep us saved, with a day by day salvation from the power of
sin and the penalty of sin.
3. A Future Salvation.
The Bible has a future salvation in mind. Romans 13 v11
'The hour has come for you to wake up from your
slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when
we first believed.'
Past salvation delivered us from the penalty of sin, present
salvation delivers us from the power of sin. Future salvation,
