What a Christian Believes
This kind of REPENTING brings wonderful results. Luke 15
v7 'Jesus said 'there will be more rejoicing in heaven
over one sinner that repents than over ninety nine
righteous persons who do not need to repent'.'
Here is a practical consideration with a spiritual principle:-
THE CONFESSION OF SINS SHOULD NEVER BE MORE
PUBLIC THAN THE PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE SINS.
Psalm 32 v5 'Then I acknowledged my sin to YOU (God)
and did not cover up my iniquity. I said " I will confess
my transgressions to the Lord" and you forgave the guilt
of my sin.'
Repentance is turning from sin but also toward God. Acts 20
v21 'I (Paul) have declared to both Jews and Greeks
(meaning all types of people) that they must turn to God
in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.'
It is this REPENTANCE that makes us ready to receive
SALVATION but it does not cause us to get salvation,
that comes from Christ alone.
Yet no one can receive salvation without Repentance.
When should people repent? What is the right time? Does
there need to be a long time of preparation?
As can be seen REPENTANCE is not a ritual, as with some
who practice confession and penitence; but a response to
conviction that comes from God Himself when the conscience
is at work. Acts 17 v30 'In the past God overlooked
man's ignorance, but NOW He commands all men
everywhere to REPENT.'
