A In addition to Adopt-A Family, the Community Policing Unit of Rutgers Newark ran
usy a very successful toy drive. The unit, which focuses on promoting good will, commu-
nity involvement, and safety within and around our campuses, even had a Santa Cop
mber
of and Mickey Mouse which were huge hits for the
ving children they visited at University Hospital and
First Love Ministries in Newark, where they cele-
brated “Three Kings”.
In a note of gratitude sent to IPO Division em-
ployees, Newark Police Chief John Huertas said,
“The Rutgers University Police Department would
like to express our sincerest thanks to members
of the Division of Institutional Planning and Oper-
ations for making our Good Neighbor Next Door
Holiday Toy Patrol a success. With your help, we
were able to collect over 150 toys!
“This morning, members from the police
department delivered approximately 50 toys to
University Hospital, and on Saturday, January
7, they will be delivering more toys to First Love
Ministries to celebrate the Three Kings with local
residents of the City of Newark.
“Your generous donations helped spread holi-
day cheer to pediatric patients at the hospital and
will extend to more children on the 7th.”
Toys collected in the New Brunswick Campus-
es were transported to Newark by Michael Zucca-
rello and Vincent (Vinnie) Quaglieri from
Material and Logistical Services.
“Thanks to all of the many employees
from our division--Rutgers Police, Facilities
Operations, Material and Logistical Ser-
vices, and those who donated toys, cloth-
ing and other items for needy families. We
made a difference in more than a few lives
this holiday season,” said Antonio Calcado,
Executive Vice President.
