Spirituality is a personal and individually unique relationship between the ego
and the incarnate Spirit. You, your Spirit is of course a Spirit being and
therefore has its own unique place within the complexities of The Spirit. God
and The Spirit are One and you, your Spirit are one with The Spirit, and
therefore one with God. It is your ego that is the separate entity and the root of
the various dysfunctions that occur during life. Once the ego recognises its
place and function, there can be harmony between your Spirit and your ego.
The call in many religions is to “surrender yourself to God”, is a valid call
except that is has been misconstrued by religion to infer you become subject to
the God of that religion, and not see this calling as being addressed to your ego
to surrender itself to your Spirit. If we are to look to the subject of illness we
will see how the conflict of ego and Spirit can not only affect you on a mental
level but also on a physical level, not only disrupt your happiness but also your
health. You will remember that we have mentioned many times the Law of
Cause and Effect, the ‘punishment’ often given by this Law manifests as
illness of some sort. We would also remind you that not all illness is
‘punishment’, some illnesses are guidance. If one is to take the ‘punishment’

we must look at the misrepresentation by religion of this Law. Some use it as
an excuse to preach “Hell and Damnation”, others to place blame on the
offender and their offence. Spirituality, which is not a religion, sees this Law
as providing opportunity to change, and indeed for the opportunity for an
excuse to other people for the need for change, the ‘illness’ no longer allowing
certain behaviour or living. Illness need not only affect the physical body or
mind, but may manifest in a material sense, such as loss of occupation or some
such loss. You will notice how even the severest of illnesses can be
experienced and recovered from by using it to invoke change, provided it is
the right change, one that comes from within you, inspired. In this way the
‘curse’ becomes a blessing. All comes from God and is good. Once it becomes
