Many struggle with the thought that they might have to change their view of
their world, and that they might also have to change their lifestyle. There are
no sudden changes needed. Again we stress the simplicity and
uncomplicatedness of spirituality. Your awareness will call the changes, when
and if necessary. You will find that you will reject what was once attractive to
you. You were attracted to whatever that was, as a replacement for the lack of
spiritual satisfaction and nourishment from your lifestyle. These compulsions
that many experience, such as the need for food outside of meal times, and
indeed the need for excessive food; the need to drink alcoholic beverages to
quench ones thirst; the need to pollute ones lungs with tobacco smoke so they
feel they can relax; the need to take any form of hallucinogenic in order to
cope with the life they are choosing to lead, are triggered by a form of hunger.
This hunger is really a hunger for change. Unfortunately there is little in your
world that will attract the necessary awareness that will allow the victim of this
hunger to identify what is an opportunity of real fulfilment. Some turn to
religion, and cling to their beliefs in the hope that they won’t sink. Religion, in
this instance, is like a lifebelt that will eventually become sodden and begin to
sink. The victim will cling to that lifebelt and consequently will sink with it.
This is why, with religion, it may have the language but it lacks the substance,
it lacks the Spirit. It is also unfortunate that religion can turn people from
spirituality. If you think of times where you felt truly fulfilled, you will
remember times when you were in a state of mind to be close to your
Godliness. There are other times when you spoke from your heart, and that felt
good. There are also times when you know you are being truthful to yourself.
All these times it was the feeling of goodness, and inwardly the feeling of
Godliness. That’s the fulfilment. Other times when you eat your food,
remember we spoke of this earlier. Well produced, and prepared, and cooked
food needs little garnishing, it is full of love. When you eat this food you also
get that feeling we are referring to in this conversation. If we are to expand this
