Spirit – Releasing the Light Within

Disability.

This is yet another word, thoughtlessly used to
describe another who is ‘different’. No one is born disabled,

but there are many who are certainly born different. Often this
difference is not discernable by a particular appearance, rather
different by behaviour. The difference can manifest by an

impairment of some type, either physical or mental or both. All
are a vital part of this life and specifically selected by the Spirit
who chooses this particular body for its purpose of this

lifetime. Most times the title of ‘disabled’ is conferred by those
so-called professionals who find they don’t have the
knowledge or who are unprepared to offer the time facilitating

this unique human being.
It is much more convenient to place a label and move

them on to become somebody else’s ‘burden’. Little time is
given to exploring how able this person is, how differently
abled they are. If perhaps the ‘professionals’ were to afford the

time to these special people, and respect them as they are
respected in other societies, we might find the wonderful

contribution they can make to our society. Most of the aids
developed to help these people are only designed to help then
