Philosophy 1
Philosophy is the study of truth. This study is
based on the past and present events that prove the truth. The
future provides no answers for the present. But is this latter
statement true?
Surely the future proves the truth of the
present and therefore must have a valid place in philosophy.
Often philosophy engenders thoughts of staid old men with
long white beards sitting in thought, totally lacking in
dynamism. The names are numerous. There are many schools
of philosophy; many disciplines yet the impression is that
philosophy is fixed.
Religions each have their own philosophy and
perhaps this is why those who profess certain beliefs remain
fixed within that establishment they have chosen. Certain
orthodoxy's deny absolute freedom of belief and thus
discourage the personalising of the associated philosophy.
Within Christian religions we are told how to interpret the
Bible. We are not free to draw our own conclusions. The power
of the word is denied to those not of the hierarchy.
Philosophy is dynamic. Philosophy is personal
and individual. No two people are alike therefore they cannot
be expected to think alike. Why should they to act alike?
