Mental Illness.

The interpretation of mental illness from a spiritual dimension
presents an interesting understanding of the condition. There are so
many different factors to be considered before we can possibly

determine if the so called mentally ill are ill.
The whole area of hearing disembodied voices for instance
has to be re-examined. We have the experience in the past of the
saintly receiving messages from burning bushes, from out of the
clouds and even from beings that nobody else can see. These people
were exalted, and yet those innocents who, perhaps because of their
innocence, were more true in their vision or hearing were incarcerated
in some institution supposedly suitable for suchlike. How much of the
outbursts of anger from these people are their frustrations at not being

            understood.
No doubt there are certain conditions that provoke a
deterioration in the function of the mind but again could this not just
be a dysfunction in one level of consciousness, the consciousness we
tend to recognise in an everyday capacity. This dysfunction could then
release another level of consciousness that we, in our entrenchment of
what we perceive as being normal, make no attempt to understand. I
have already spoken of the multi-level being, of the various levels of
consciousness. How relevant are these other levels to our function in
this life? In the process of assimilation of the positivity of experience
we initially encounter the experience at this level that we would term
normal waking consciousness. We filter out that part of the experience
