deity. The eight year old in such a household will have to
submit to this ethos. They would fare better in a non-religious
household. They would fare even better in a household where
Spirituality was the ethos and where life with Spirit was
understood.
It could also be said another way, That the child becomes the
victim of the unawareness of the adults around them. We're it
that their God parent we available, and the child was aware of
the role that parent was to play in their life, and if the God
parent were to realise the duty that accompanied that role,
then the child would have some spiritual guidance in their life
irrespective of the ethos of the household. Many will say that
the child attended Sunday school or attended religious classes
at school but that to the child is but another academic class
they have to attend and will not therefore give it the proper
reverence or other respect it deserves. One might ask why the
child would feel that way, and the answer is that the child
unconsciously knows the difference between religion and
spirituality and finds religious indoctrination a chore. Try as
we might we will never fool the child.
In most cases the adventuring eight year old proceeds into its
future without spiritual support, The next big event for the
child is going to be its teenage years and as the present for the
child is spiritually uninteresting it drifts towards this event.
There will occasionally be attempts by the child to express its
deeply buried feeling and at the age of ten emotional outbursts
can take place where the child cannot suppress it emotions
any longer and let go. These outbursts are usually highly
