On the other hand, it could be said that our Spiritual
awareness is continuously growing while our ego
consciousness is continuously learning. The difficulty,
however, is that the ego consciousness often thinks it knows it
all, and consequently misses the benefits of the lesson. It must
be remembered that ego consciousness is temporary and is
outlived by the eternal spiritual consciousness. It is the ego
consciousness that maintains itself but only as long as it also
serves the need of the Spirit. Previously I have spoken of the
soul and likened it to the overall or protective garment that
one would wear in a potentially toxic environment. The soul
is there to gather the negativity that would potentially damage
the Spirit. The Spirit is conscious of the fact that, because of
the ego of this body it occupies, it will be taken into hostile or
toxic situations. As an example, in writing this I, the
communicator in this case, need to rely on the ego of Brendan
permitting me to write these words. No matter who I am, I am
never more evolved than the Spirit of Brendan, I am only in a
more perfect place to communicate from. The only reason that
Brendan would facilitate me to write these words is that he, as
so many humans do, does not manage to clearly see the
differences between using physical consciousness and using
Spiritual consciousness, and therefore cannot trust themselves,
the combination of body/ego, ego/soul and Spirit. In time, and
age, the imbalance in this combination corrects itself. The
confidence in ones ego shifts to confidence in ones Spirit, and
we become wiser.
