Keep it Creative
We have, throughout the history of software, tried to fit the process into this model of engineering and construction. However, creating business software is nothing like construction at all. It is much more of a creative process. Trying to fit it into an engineering process just stifles creativity and limits the result to someone’s predefined concept of the solution.
The solution should evolve over time and be malleable and changeable as the participants in the creation think about what is being built and have better ideas. After seeing one version and understanding how it can affect processing, they will have visibility to an even better version of the solution. This new process will be an improved prototype.
