STEP 2 - Write Your Story
Eventually we arrive at the perfect room; any further change would detract from what we want. That’s how we know we are done.
To build a software solution using an engineering process, very precise information must be “set in stone” before the building even begins. Once the design is complete, every question must be answered by the documentation. It must be complete enough that the coding can just proceed without interruption. A great deal of information is required for this and it must be expressed in very technical terms. Technology people are schooled in this very specific language and can communicate very effectively using it. They do “modeling” and create “use cases” of each transaction that the software is intended to process. They even create test data in advance to test the final completed software. Everything is decided. Everything is documented to the nth degree. It is a requirement of the process. The process just doesn’t work without this ream of very technical information.
This documentation is then turned over to the poor user to approve the development. In most cases, the user doesn’t understand most of what is contained in the documentation. Their best hope is to just sign off
