To do this we will have to admit that a large part of our attractions are marching orders imprinted on every DNA strand you possess, and in every sexual and mental romantic feeling you have.
One reason evolution gets a bad name is that its primary dynamic is a violent struggle for food and shelter that leads to survival of the fittest. But perhaps evolution’s second most powerful dynamic is sublime, reproductive love—and all the sublime non-reproductive love that goes with it. This includes inspiration that launches a thousand ships, devotion that promotes a joyous stable home, and creativity that inspires endless music, poetry and rhapsody.
Criticisms of Ms. Fisher’s books were hard to find. Most merely summarized her discussion like the New York Times book review called Love Potion Number 9. Other’s focused on Fisher’s claim that anthropologically, romantic love was geared to last only four years, the number of years needed for the child to be able to run with the tribe. But some of the 98 critics on Amazon. com concluded that learning something about love was not detrimental to their love life. Said Daniel:
