 Year 3 (U8) Cricket
This club is run with the intention of improving the dexterity and understanding of the participants. It is open to all and has little or no bearing on team selection but purely for the enjoyment of playing cricket. The club will help build boys’ skills in bowling, batting, fielding and catching of the ball, as well as game awareness and understanding of basic rules. Each session will have a focus; batting or bowling for example, and then once boys show a good understanding of the skill they are expected to demonstrate this in some kind of match, whether that is in pairs or in small-sided games and will be conditioned depending on the activity being taught that week.
Year 4 (U9) Cricket
This activity continues to complement the work presented to boys in their PE and Games lessons. Batting, bowling and fielding skills are worked on to strengthen technique with the intention of furthering the boys’ enjoyment and confidence. On occasions, small clinics are undertaken to help both weaker and developing cricketers. Small-sided games encourage participation, which leads to some boys being promoted into teams.
