Closing the Manual Valve
Shuts off fuel supply to the
engine
You will have 1-3 minutes to
operate the engine and
position the vehicle in the
repair bay
Step 2: Prepare the CNG 2.5 With storage cylinders
Vehicle isolated and no leaks
detected:
Step 3: Perform Allowable Drive the CNG vehicle
Repairs into the repair bay
Allow the engine to run
until it stalls out due to
low fuel pressure
Confirm that the fuel
system is depressurized
by checking the high- and
low-pressure (if
equipped) gauges and
slowly open the bleed
valve
2.6 Finish the vehicle preparation
by attaching a red “CNG
System Defueled” tag to the
driver’s door handle
3.1 Notify the shop supervisor
3.2 Cease all major repairs on
non-CNG vehicles while the
CNG vehicle is in the facility
unless the CNG repair work is
conducted in an isolated
repair bay
Step 4: Restore Fuel System and 4.1 After Minor Repair is

Open the valves on the
CNG storage cylinders
Remove tags, start engine
and immediately drive
vehicle out of the
maintenance facility
Once the CNG vehicle is
out of the maintenance
facility, major repair work
can begin on other
vehicles, including
welding and hot work
