 NICHOLAS BOOTHMAN
You are healthier, wealthier, happier, wiser, and safer when you do talk to strangers. Talking to strangers reduces loneliness and social isolation, leading to better physical and mental health.
Strangers don"t just hold the keys to your dream job, fresh friends and tickets to the game, they hold the keys to something much more exciting: serendipity or !everyday miracles.” That"s when you stumble across something better than you could have ever imagined while you"re busy looking for something else.
Anyone who has ever achieved anything important will tell you that luck plays a role in success. But luck is not a mystical force that bestows good fortune on a select few. It's a trusted partner that helps you make the most of new opportunities—as long as you know how.
A chance encounter with a stranger can alter the course of your life. It can even change the world.
Sergey Brin arrived in the US from Russia with his parents in 1979 when he was six years old. He grew up and went to Stanford College, and during an orientation for new students, he got talking to Larry Page. They found common ground and after a rocky start they began a research project on search engine ranking factors and changed the world. One thing led to another, and Google was born.
It took the pandemic of 2020 to make us realize just how much we crave the company of strangers. Talking to the right kind of strangers not only makes life more
