WAKE UP AND DO YOUR THING
at an angle to the other person, covering your mouth when you speak, and wearing sunglasses.
Synchronize Body Language
You don"t need to wait to talk to someone before you talk to them; you can start synchronizing their body language and behavior before you open your mouth by subtly mirroring the person"s overall body position and voice (tone, speed and volume). For example, if the person speaks slowly and quietly, do the same. Be sure to make eye contact, smile, and open your body language to show the person you are open and safe. If they like and feel comfortable with you, they will tend to see the best in you; if they don"t, they may well see the worst.
C Is for Conversation
Make Small Talk
Generally, humans find prolonged silence uncomfortable, and sometimes unbearable. This can be due to human evolutionary history as a social species. For many other social animals, silence is a communicative sign of potential danger.
Small talk is just casual chitchat about nothing in particular. Ask questions about what he or she likes to do in their spare time. Where are you from/going? Family? Fun?
