Chapter 10. What made you want to get
into practicing this area of law?

For twenty-seven years my wife and I have lived

by this mantra of living life on purpose. “If it's
worth doing, it's worth doing on purpose.” Let's
write it down and let's plan to do it. We started
out in 1991 with the "6:15 rule". It gave birth
                                to our family plan.

What is the 6:15 rule? My wife used to get up
early in the morning. She'd go to work and be
out the door by 6 a.m. Then she'd get home
around 5:00, 6:00 at night. She'd just sit there

and wait for me to come home because I didn't
                                go in at 6 a.m. I would stay till 7:00, 8:00 at
night. We thought, "Okay, we've got to figure
this out." We wrote down the 6:15 rule. She
could not leave the house before 6:15 a.m. and
I could not be at the office after 6:15 p.m. There

were exceptions occasionally, but that was the
general rule. It became our contract, our
                                commitment.
