PRESIDENT’S COLUMN
The Club at WestPark
Community Association
I hope everyone has been enjoying the mild days of January with the extra sunshine,
although we do need rain and snow. At the same time, I believe we all have concern
about and sympathy for the victims of the devastating fires in Southern California. 3240 Kennerleigh Parkway,
Roseville, CA 95747
The losses are inestimable. I’m very grateful that I live here at the Club at WestPark, Phone: (916) 771-7801
and the dangers of wildfires are greatly diminished by our physical development.

Speaking of winter and rain, yes, our sprinkler systems in our front yards are turned
Mary Gale,
Board President off for the time being as is consistent with lawn and landscaping management here at The Retreat Facility Hours
The Club. Bella Vista is constantly monitoring our conditions here, and the plan has
been to resume watering as soon as Spring temperatures indicate it is time to Monday - Friday
reactivate our sprinklers. Meantime, the overnight dew point temperatures are 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
providing plenty of moisture to sustain our greenery. Saturday & Sunday
9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Changing topics, I’d like to remind those who have not returned their Housing for
Older Persons Act (HOPA) forms to the front office to please do so. If you need
another form, please feel free to phone The Retreat, and a form can be emailed to FirstService Residential
you. State law requires each Homeowners’ Association to verify a census — every Customer Care Center
two years — certifying that at least 80 percent of our households are occupied by a (800) 428-5588
person 55 years or older, if we want to retain our 55 and older legal status. Resident Portal

On another subject, please be aware that it can be very hazardous to park a car on the
street too close to a corner or a bend in the street. Two of our residents, each in a Board of Directors
separate vehicle, recently narrowly avoided a head-on crash in the middle of the road Mary Gale, President
because one driver had to swing wide to avoid hitting the parked car on its right. At Terry Eyrich, Vice President
the same time, an unseen second vehicle was approaching in the opposite direction. Richard Tipton, Member at Large
The wide swing to clear the parked car placed both vehicles in a situation in which Linda Mohr, Secretary
they almost collided. A little caution when parking on the street can go a long way in Sandra Boyle, Treasurer
helping drivers stay safe.
