February is the month for love, and I love discovering trends in the reading community. While 2024 had some surprises, romance, especially ro-
mantasy and dark romance continued to be the top popular adult fiction genre. Some say it represents around 23% of all total adult fiction sales.
Consider these options; Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series (Netflix) and Colleen Hover’s It Ends With Us – both created discussion along with tv/
movie viewing options. If I were to share one title that made me pause for love of friendship, it would be The Women by Kristin Hannah. The
connection between the main character and her friends is unconditional love. Distance did not separate their love and this novel shows that
sometimes friendships are created under unusual circumstances. Please visit the Retreat Library to check out the assortment of books available to
you for unlimited checkout times. Stickers on the spine of the books help with identifying genres.
Roseville Public Library is a space to love. Check out the upstairs area has quiet areas to read or enjoy a passive
program offering – Push Pause. The new book club called West Side Stories has begun. The Local Author Se-
ries Talks continue. The Financial Literacy series has been canceled due to an instructor conflict. We will try to
reschedule. In the meantime, visit: www.roseville.ca.us/library for more programs to love and attend for free.
Happy Valentines Day!
