Smoke Alarm
I own a BOWEN model home on
Arlington Court that was built
about twelve years ago. One of
the alarm units (not the battery)
malfunctioned. I found an exact
replacement for mine at Lowe’s
in Roseville. They come boxed as
single units for about $20.00 and
just slightly more than $100.00
for a bundle of six.
I own a tall ladder and found that the units were a snap to replace. I
was told by a fellow Club member that the fire department will do
the actual installation at no charge, but cannot swear that is true.
Handyman Jim does it for a fee, also. Bill Bowen.

The Retreat Library inventory has been thoroughly gone through. With a happy group of volunteers and a couple of
hours, we were able to catch up, clean up and clear out titles making your community library up-to-date. We do not pur-
chase book materials, so your currently published donations make our decision to keep or pass along to other nonprofit
organizations easier. We thank you for donating titles published within the past two years. Don’t be shy, stop by, browse
the shelves and check out some titles before you travel this summer. There are no due dates.
Are you participating in the Roseville Public Library’s Summer Reading Challenge? Summer reading is for all ages and the prizes this year are
experiences, in some cases for entire families. Remember, everyone who reads is a winner. RPL is seeing a very busy library system this sum-
mer. If you are avoiding the crowds, try being a virtual library user. Recently added is hoopla. Download eBooks, audiobooks, comics, movies,
TV shows, magazines and music to your digital devices for free with a RPL card. If you want an activity to do with grandchildren, check out the
hoopla binge passes – “Hands on Crafts for Kids – Season #1”. Suggest RPL to your new neighbors or contact us.
What’s on my nightstand? The Clinic by Cate Quinn. A thriller set in a remote rehab clinic on the Pacific Northwest coast. A woman inside
prompts her sister to enter the clinic as a patient to find the truth. This title is available in hoopla’s eBooks and is simultaneous use. Great for
book club members with a RPL card. Also I found this title very compelling, “The Mystery of Julia Episcopa” by John I. Rigoli and Diane
Cummings. Classical archaeologists Valentina Vella and Erika Simone are tasked with advising the newly-elected Pope on the historical legacy
of women in the early Christian period. Goodreads says, “WOW! What an incredible book!” Recommended for readers of The DaVinci Code
and Pope Joan.
Happy Reading,
Sara
