Next Open Session Board Meeting
December. It’s December! How did we get here so fast?! I feel like we were Wednesday, January 29th at 3:00pm
just sending Valentines, scooping up Easter eggs in The Retreat patio in the
rain, catching the Sun City fireworks show and celebrating the grandkids
going back to school. 2025 will be here before we know it!
It’s been quite a year here at The Retreat. Almost a record year of home sales and new members moving into the community, many quickly
jumping right into SIG groups and attending both paid and association sponsored events. We have had record numbers at monthly Bingo and
Trivia as well as It’s 5 O'clock Somewhere. There’s been so much interest that we have been busting at the seams with attendance and spilling
into the library for seating. We are so excited about all these things. It’s part of what makes working here so much fun. There is a lot of work to
do back here in the office but it’s balanced well with fun and member laughter and smiles. That’s our goal. We want The Club to be a place of
peace and happiness. You’ve worked hard all your life and now is the time to relax and have FUN!
We have tackled quite a bit of maintenance items the end of last and into this year. We pulled in a new ice machine as well as replaced the old
failing coffee urn with a hot water machine and new coffee and air pots. We brought in the new cabinet and counter top that sits in place of the
old deli case. We have replaced fitness exercise balls with new ones, added more hand weights to the Wellness room, and bought a new
recumbent bike. We know it’s not as well received as the old Lifetime Fitness cycles but they don’t make that one anymore. We purchased a
new ping pong table to replace the old failing one. Additional easy to move lightweight rolling tables were added to the café and we replaced the
old library tables. Drew has replaced chair and lounger fabric as needed to save some cost on replacements. This is an ongoing project. The
roofing project is finally complete. As of the printing deadline, we are waiting for the manufacturer’s inspector to review the job and sign off to
validate the warranty and we can close that chapter. Our next big ticket item should be HVAC unit replacements and the Board and Finance
Committee has set the community up on a great reserve schedule to prepare for that upcoming expense.
Don’t forget, assessments increase to $711.00 per quarter effective January 1, 2025.
The holiday party is on December 6 with a Merry Grinchmas theme. I can’t wait to see you all in attendance to join in celebrating the closing of
another wonderful year here at The Retreat.
