A few years ago Jill and I said if we ever won the lottery we would purchase a
condo in San Francisco directly across the street from Oracle Park (where the
Giants play baseball). Well, no such luck with the lotto, so we decided we
might do the next best thing and get a hotel room on the Embarcadero and stay
for a few days. The Atlanta Braves were in town the week of August 12-16 for
4 games, so we booked the week and had a wonderful time. The weather was
typical San Francisco early Fall and a nice reprieve from the sweltering heat of
Sacramento.
We stayed at the Hyatt Place located 1/2 block from the entrance of Oracle
Park. Our goal was to enjoy the restaurants within a short walking distance,
which we did, feasting on a variety of great San Francisco cuisine. The proxim-
ity of the hotel made it so convenient to get to and from the games. Giants won
one out of the four and all but one of the games were competitive. Try it, you
