any member of the faculty or staff; however, it is recommended that they report to the above
mentioned individuals. In any case, the President will be notified immediately. Students are
entitled to restricted or unrestricted reporting.
a. Restricted Reporting – Restricted reporting is when the victim elects to not
disclose information about the alleged perpetrator. The victim will not be
coerced or pressured into providing information about the alleged perpetrator.
The institute and all agencies and organizations are required to comply with
the victim’s request, and the victim is provided every opportunity to maintain
the issue in confidence. Restricted reporting allows the victim to get medical
and counseling help without going through an investigation. For a report to be
deemed restricted, it may only be reported to the following individuals:
i. Any Healthcare Professional – on campus MMI’s healthcare
professionals are the Director of Health Services and the Assistant
Director of Health Services and can be reached during normal
working hours at 683-2378;
ii. Any Mental Health Professional – on campus MMI has a Director of
Counseling who can be reached during normal working hours at 683-
2354; or
iii. Clergy
b. Unrestricted Reporting – unrestricted reporting is when the victim willfully
elects to report and disclose the events of the assault. The institution and all
agencies and organizations are authorized to actively pursue strategies to
identify and apprehend those involved in the attack. MMI will conduct an on
campus investigation and take any necessary disciplinary action.
9.4 Response
Medical and Counseling Support Services
It is very important to obtain immediate medical care following a sexual assault to provide for
the victim’s well-being and to document, collect, and properly preserve physical evidence.
Individuals should seek medical care immediately, whether or not the crime is reported.
If sexually assaulted, cadets should take the following steps:
a. Get to a safe place immediately and notify the authorities as soon as possible.
To contact the Marion Police Department, call 911 or 334-683-9071. By calling
the authorities, you are reporting the crime that was committed against you, as
well as seeking the protection of the police. As soon as practical, contact the
Commandant of Cadets or the OC. Contact information includes:

iii. Commandant of Cadets Office – 334-683-2322
