Campaign - current status

To date, Foundation400 has raised £1,741,757 in donations. Currently, the dividend generated by the Foundation is of a level to pay
for the full costs of 4 Senior School Foundation places.
This is an encouraging start to our campaign and is a wonderful sum to have raised in 5 years. However, there is work to be done to
secure the Foundation’s future. Building the £15 million endowment necessary to achieve this will require support
from the Heriot’s community.

The endowment investment portfolio had been performing well from 2015 through to 2020, returning an average dividend of 3%
per year.
In 2015, 3.2% of funding for the Foundation was generated by the endowment. The ambitious goal of Foundation400 is to grow
this dividend to 58.5%. Currently, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the endowment generates 8.7% of the annual costs
of the Foundation.
The coronavirus pandemic has seen a dramatic effect on global investment markets. We do not yet have the full picture as to how
this will affect the endowment investments, but initial results look to have seen a reductionin the value of the Foundation investment
portfolio.
Regular gifts underpin the growth of the Foundation endowment and we are extremely grateful to all who contribute - currently there
are 172 donors giving regularly to Foundation400.
Every donation, no matter the size or frequency, is valued and makes such a difference.
