Philosophy lessons in Learning
Enhancement focused on getting pupils to
think more deeply about the world around
them. P3 looked to nature as a stimulus
for philosophical discussion, while P1
explored the meaning of home.
We looked at temperature inside
and outside in order to compare the
difference. We learnt how to read a
thermometer correctly and write down
the measurement using the Celsius
scale. P2A then discussed the reasons
why the temperature may be different
outside to inside – for example, we have
the protection of the walls and windows
from wind chill. Finally, we looked at the
temperature and weather in different
parts of the country and other countries.
We loved seeing what it was like in Cape
Town!

P2 cook up a treat
P2 had great fun making cheese and
chive savoury bites. It felt so good
making them ourselves and following
a series of recipe instructions. We
learnt how to safely use scissors to
cut chives, and mix up wet and dry
Roman experience ingredients together. We thought they
tasted delicious too!
for P3 pupils
P3 had a visit from Melissa for a Roman
arts and crafts workshop, in which we
had a chance to learn more about the
life of Romans. We learned about what
they ate, made Vindolanda tablets and
oil lamps, and even wrote some Latin. It
was great fun working with hand drills
and air dry clay, even if it was a little
messy at times!
