W&RSETA RESEARCH CONFERENCE 2022
he W&RSETA invites academics, employers and trade unions to submit research papers for presentation and discussion at the
Tinaugural Research Conference to be hosted in May 2022. The conference supports the W&RSETA’s role in conducting labour
market research in the Wholesale and Retail Sector and disseminate key outcomes, findings, and recommendations of research studies.
Submission must be made by 31 March 2022 to Mxolisi Maphakela at mmaphakela@wrseta.org.za
CONFERENCE THEME: “Building wholesale and retail sector competitiveness through digitisation for effective skills development”
Sub-themes:
• Digitisation for employment in the Wholesale and Retail Sector – A New Era.
• Building competitiveness through a disruptive economy.
• Emerging skills set requirements and effective ways to implement skills development interventions.

AGENDA UPDATE
ou are invited to submit proposals for themes or topics that are important in the development of the W&RSETA’s Sector Skills
YPlan and sector priorities which will contribute to the SETA’s 2021-2025 Research Agenda. The Research Agenda provides an
opportunity to improve the quality of labour market data and information that is relevant to strategic interventions that will enable
effective and responsive implementation of skills development programmes in the Wholesale and Retail Sector.
Proposals should be submitted to Mxolisi Maphakela at mmaphakela@wrseta.org.za by 30 April 2022.
