W&RSETA supports
youth development in
townships
W&RSETA Chairperson and CEO during the panel
discussions.
The W&RSETA CEO Tom Mkhwanazi joined other SETA
CEOs and inspired young people on how to prepare for
the world of work and the careers available through the
SETAs.
Young people gathered in their numbers at Orange
Farm Sports Complex.
The W&RSETA participated in the EmpowaYouth Week
in Orange Farm from 3 - 8 October 2021. The event,
organised by EmpowaWorx aims to expose employment and
entrepreneurship opportunities from various government and
community development organisations.
The event attracted over 200 young people to interact with the
W&RSETA on various programmes and careers in wholesale
and retail.
Young people were engaged on topical issues such as
boosting the township economy in the COVID-19 era, careers
for the future, starting a business, leadership and personal
development as well as social challenges by various business
experts and community leaders.
Chairperson of the W&RSETA Board, Reggie Sibiya
addressed young people in the Chairman’s Conversation
that highlighted how young people can create their own
economic opportunities and create employment. Jephrey Nene, Provincial Manager: Gauteng South
speaking about the W&RSETA programmes.
The W&RSETA also had an opportunity to share its programmes
and opportunities in the Wholesale and Retail Sector post
COVID-19.
