The Freehand Life of "imagery, modeling, and atmosphere"
I pursue the freehand life of "imagery, modeling, and atmosphere" in my painting, which means forming a collection of ideas and
images on the basis of personal sensibility, intuition, and imagination. It is a kind of psychological experience that integrates various factors
such as feeling, intuition, emotion, and reason. It can be an image, an interpretation, and a definition that deeply analyzes an individual's
mental activities, understands the flow of mind, gains the understanding of life, and sees the inner nature from the heart.
"The flowers and the moon are so beautiful. Don't treat the flowers and the moon as ordinary things."
Tang Yin, "Song of Flowers and Moon"
Looking at a painting, watching a movie, listening to music, falling in love, and experiencing a scene can make people feel and find the
beauty of life in ordinary daily life. My painting mainly presents the "original appearance" of nature. That is, "It is both taking the shapes
of all natural things and painting the ideas of all natural phenomena." The "original appearance of nature" is to pursue the true "essence"
of life in all natural phenomena. Through the "abstract" techniques, the shapes of objects are deconstructed and assembled into new order
and composition. With a combination of real scenes, fantasies, and personal mental pictures, the freehand painting style that features
"resemblance and non-resemblance," "resemblance of non-resemblance" "with and without a shape," and "with and without an appearance"
and transcends reality and time and space presents the spiritual concept of the natural phenomena I perceive. This is also the ideal "reality" I
pursue.
"Poetry is an invisible painting, while painting is a visible poem."
Guo Xi, The Lofty Ambition of Forests and Streams (Lin Quan Gao Zhi )
There is a painting in the poem, and a poem in the painting. An individual's life and feeling can be written through painting. Therefore,
enjoying a piece of work is like reading a "silent poem." The connection between poetry and painting adds to the "imagination," "literariness,"
and "possibility" of painting. This appeal allows the viewers to see their life stories by unconsciously connecting imagination with reality
and painting with their own ideas and life. I often feel it is with the purest and simplest romantic feeling that I can create the works that touch
my heart. Without words, I can touch the deepest, most obscure, and indescribable bottom of people's hearts and inspire the most primitive
essence and feeling of human nature that is pure, good, and beautiful.
The 2024 solo exhibition of "Brilliant Universe" is the conclusion of my three years in the master's program. I deeply feel that I have
made significant growth in terms of the idea, image, and atmosphere of painting. I'd also like to share this joy and touching moment with you
and expect everyone to enjoy the exhibition. Wish you and your family peace and joy.
