jury in that matter because of his close association with THOMAS.
As mentioned earlier, such are the kinds of records a researcher examines in his
search for clues about the lives of his ancestors. And, as you can see, it is often
unclear just exactly which JOHN or which THOMAS or which FREDERICK
a particular document refers to without other documentation to back it up and
clarify.
There are many records containing the name THOMAS FOY but the question
is which THOMAS FOY. If one just assumes a document is talking about a
particular person, he will follow one trail. If he assumes that record is talking
about another person he will follow another trail. Each trail will lead to a
different place in theories of family history.
However accurate the AHS document information presented above is, it at least
serves to introduce us to a man named JAMES FOY, whom, it is assumed was
the son of THOMAS FOY of Craven County, N.C. and it is this JAMES FOY
who is of interest to the Cisco Clan for it is through him we descended. But,
before we discuss JAMES let’s discuss the area where he lived, Craven County.
