14. The Three Lesser Lights, the Sun, the Moon, and the Worshipful Master. As
the sun rules the day and the moon governs the night, so should the Worshipful
Master with equal regularity, rule the Lodge.
15. The Modes of Recognition are the Step of an Entered Apprentice, the Due
Guard of an Entered Apprentice, the Sign, the Grip, and the Password.
16. The Badge of a Mason is the White Lambskin Apron; it is the emblem of
innocence. Symbolizing by its color, the purity of his Masonic Character.
17. This teaches the true meaning of Charity. This Rite further teaches that it is
his duty to contribute to the relief of a distressed and worthy Brother.
18. The Working Tools of an Entered Apprentice are the common gavel which
causes us to divest our hearts and consciences of all vices and superfluities of life
and the twenty-four inch gage which causes us to divide our time into twenty-four
hours of the day; eight hours for the service of God and a distressed worthy
Brother, eight hours for our usual vocation, and eight hours for refreshment and
sleep.
19. The Two Saints John are represented by two festivals in the Masonic
Calendar. Saint John the Baptist, celebrated on June 24th and Saint John the
Evangelist, celebrated on December 27th.
20. There are three movable and three immovable. The three immovable jewels
are the Worshipful Master, the Senior Warden and the Junior Warden. The three
movable jewels are the Rough Ashlar, the Perfect Ashlar, and Trestle Board,
representing the Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft and Worshipful Master. ·
