holders have the final say. Every 0.5 seconds, they
have the power to vote to promote or demote a BP.
EOS Token holders also vote in a referendum
towards a proposal or to express their desires. Block
producers who act according to the will of the EOS
Token holders are voted in but those who don’t are
voted out.
If there is any change that is to be done to EOS
Network, or any decision to be made concerning the
network, the block producers are responsible for
effecting such changes. Whenever there is a decision
to be made concerning the network, BPs must come
to an agreement (consensus) and if 15 out of the top
21 vote yes, they would be able to effect the change.
The top 21 BPs in EOS are the Major BPs. Each of
them take turns in producing blocks. Other BPs
below the top 21 are called standby BPs. There are
currently over 600 standby BPs and as their name
suggests, they remain on standby to replace any major
BPs who get demoted.
The top 21 BPs get paid. The topmost standby BPs
