transporting customers should have
current comprehensive car insurance
and provide documentation upon
renewal. Staff members must also
inform their Just Better Care office if
their insurance coverage or insurance
details change.
In addition, staff must also:

Have a roadworthy vehicle, ensuring
it is mechanically safe
Immediately notify their office of
any medical condition/s (including
prescribed medications), licence
cancellation or other restriction/s
that may affect their ability to
transport customers
Have a zero level of blood alcohol or
prohibited drugs
Comply with all road laws in their
respective state or territory
Have a clean vehicle, free from
clutter or debris that may cause
injury
Ensure all passengers wear a
seatbelt and that these are in good
working order
Note—The driver is responsible for
ensuring that anyone under 16 years
of age is wearing their seatbelt
If transporting a child, ensure their
vehicle is fitted with a child restraint
that is suitable for the child’s weight
and height
Take required rest breaks if travelling
over long distances (e.g. rest breaks
every two hours)
Take necessary safety precautions
and avoid travel in hazardous and/
or poor road conditions (e.g. severe
weather)

Ensure customers are not left
unsupervised in vehicles at any time
Carry a mobile phone with a
charged battery at all times
Note—When transporting
customers-the use of mobile phones
while driving vehicles without the
aid of a legally appropriate “hands-
free kit” is strictly prohibited
Pay for any fines resulting from
traffic or parking violations whilst
driving a vehicle in the course of
their duties
Not smoke or use an e-cigarette in
a motor vehicle while transporting
customers and 30 minutes prior to a
shift when they will be transporting
a customer in their car
Have a current first-aid kit and
ensure contents are reviewed
regularly and maintained in
accordance with the Just Better
Care First-Aid Kit procedure
Notify the office immediately if there
is a change of vehicle and provide
new vehicle details.
Just Better Care Australia and
Franchisees will not accept any
responsibility for any damage that
you may incur in the course of
carrying out your duties. This includes
damage to your vehicle, a vehicle
owned by another person or another
person’s property.
Before transporting a customer,
Franchisees and staff should identify
and assess potential risks.
