Customer Home WHS Checklist
The customer’s home is your
workplace and environment, and can
change on a daily basis. You always
need to be on the alert for possible
hazards to yourself and the customer.
A safe environment is vitally important
and requires assessment on every visit.
The Customer Home WHS Checklist
provides a list of identifiable areas
within a home to assess for possible
hazards. This is usually completed by
the Coordinator when assessing the
customer, or completed by the first
Community Support Professional to
visit the customer. Your Coordinator
will tell you if this is required of you.
Any hazard identified that places the
customer or yourself at risk needs
to be communicated immediately
to your Coordinator so appropriate
action may be taken. You must also
complete a Hazard Report Form, via
the Mobile App or through through
the Intranet homepage or in the JBC
Documentation Resources.

54 Personal Protective Equipment
Just Better Care provides Personal
Protective Equipment (PPE) for the
health and safety of employees and
customers.
Gloves must be used when:
•
Handling and disposing sharp
instruments and clinical waste
(follow all instructions on packages
regarding disposal)
•
In direct contact with body fluids,
secretions and excretions such as
blood (including dried blood), faeces,
urine, saliva, mucous and non-intact
skin
•
Cleaning a toilet
•
Using any cleaners or chemicals that
advise the use of gloves
•
Handling food and preparation
•
Providing wound care.
Gloves are disposable and must
be changed after the completion
of each task.
Disposable aprons may be worn
during personal care. Aprons are to
be used once, and then disposed of
appropriately.
Masks may be worn during domestic
services (when using Approved
Domestic Products or chemicals).
Masks may also be required from
time to time for infection control
purposes and/or during pandemics
(e.g. COVID-19).
