DEMYSTIFYING THE
CURSE OF POVERTY
“To Adam, he said, Because you listened to your wife and ate the
fruit from the tree which I commanded you “You must not eat from
it”…cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you
will eat food from it all the days of your life, it will produce thorns
and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field, by the
sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the
ground…so the Lord banished him from the Garden of Eden to
work the ground from which he had been taken” Genesis 3:17-19

There are many writings on the subject of -poverty. Many academic
literatures that have been written in line with this subject. They are
mainly drawn from international organizations that spearhead the
fight against this crisis and as such, it will be wise that the topic is
understood more significantly from a spiritual stand point. Well,
it does not by any means undermine the need to understand other
factors such as the socio-economic or political stand points on the
