QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The cover is carved in low relief with a central shoucharacter
encircled by an interlocking ruyi-head board, and the conforming
box is raised on a short foot. The stone is of a semi-translucent even
white tone.

A RETICULATED YELLOW JADE `
ABSTINENCE’ PLAQUE
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The plaque is carved in openwork with two confronting archaistic
chilong enclosing an elongated panel that is inscribed on one side with
two characters reading zhaijie (abstinence), and repeated in Manchu
on the reverse. The stone is of an even greenish-yellow tone.
